Eye Care for Teens
When children change school and become teenagers most experience some sort of growth spurt. This can result in a change in eye sight with some kids, even if they have had previously perfect sight. Consequently we recommend that regular eye examinations are maintained throughout the teenage years.
With many frame manufacturers providing a huge selection of styles, wearing glasses as a teenager is really acceptable. Also with exciting developments in contact lenses most spectacle prescriptions are now available to wear in lenses. With modern contact lens materials and frequent replacement wearing schedules it is proven safe for young people to wear lenses as an alternative to glasses.
Some schools recommend children not to wear glasses while doing sport as a safety precaution. Daily disposable contact lenses are ideal for this situation.
It is also highly recommended for all learner drivers to get their eyes checked before embarking with driving lessons. Eye examinations are provided by the NHS and are FREE if teenagers are in full time education and are 18 and under.
